臨床心理士 × Digital Storytelling
Bilingual (English & Japanese) psychological support and digital storytelling, by a licensed clinical psychologist in Tokyo. For children and adults — whoever you are, wherever you're from.

SK Psychology offers two distinct practices. One is psychological counselling, working with you one-on-one. The other is digital storytelling, a group practice for telling your own story. They differ in form and setting — but both exist to support one thing: your ability to live as yourself, in your own voice.
What I offer
Different in nature, both here to support your own voice.
For children and adults. Whether you grew up in Japan, or between cultures.
One-on-one support from a licensed clinical psychologist. For children's development and emotional wellbeing, adolescent concerns, parenting, and adults' own struggles. I especially support those growing up between two or more cultures and languages — international school students, returnees, and Third Culture Kids. Available in English and Japanese.
For everyone — children to elders, people with disabilities, companies and groups.
A collaborative workshop where you turn your own experience into a short 3–5 minute film, in your own voice. In a safe space, free of judgement, you express your feelings, are truly heard, and connect with others. As a clinical psychologist, I facilitate with care for safety and narrative depth.
Programs are co-facilitated, as a rule, with Rani Sanderson, founder of StoryCentre Canada (hybrid) — a rare chance to work directly with the founder of the organisation itself.
Featured project
Stories made by youth with disabilities in Japan and the US, as part of the TOMODACHI Initiative (a public-private partnership of the U.S.-Japan Council and the U.S. Embassy Tokyo, with support from the Government of Japan). I contributed as a program consultant — planning, production, and community-building.
Fees
Psychological counselling (50 min) — approximate guide:
The first session runs a little longer, to hear your story fully. Digital storytelling (for groups & organisations) varies by content, scale and purpose — full details are shared by PDF upon enquiry.
In the age of AI
As AI generates endless words, the value of putting your own thoughts and feelings into your own words only grows. Interestingly, simply naming a feeling in words has been shown to calm the brain's alarm centre — a phenomenon called affect labeling. This is also how talk therapy works.
Digital storytelling was born in a US non-profit and spread worldwide. It is taught at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and the University of Toronto, and used by the UK's NHS to support patients' voices. I practise it as a certified facilitator and the Japan representative of StoryCentre Canada. ※ Columbia Mailman School of Public Health / NHS Patient Voices / Frontiers in Digital Health (2025)
About me
In high school, I lived at an international boarding school where children from all over the world came together. Being shaped in a place where diverse values met became the starting point of who I am today.
After returning to Japan, I worked for years in foreign-affiliated consulting and finance — high-pressure worlds. Running between career and family, as a woman, I came to know first-hand the suffocation, the loneliness, and the feeling of silencing your own voice.
What I also came to feel deeply was how hard it is, in this country, to change the difficulties faced by those placed in socially vulnerable positions. Wanting to support people directly, I became a licensed clinical psychologist and took the path of digital storytelling.
What I learned from the people I've worked with — including those with disabilities — is that most people live facing forward, far more than others assume. To "support" them can be presumptuous; more often, I learn from their self-advocacy. My role is to help those whose voices haven't yet reached others, so they can hold their own voice.
